Collagen Friendly Holiday Tips

Enjoy six holiday tips for optimising your health during this indulgent season. Many of these tips are about reducing blood glucose spikes which is accelerate ageing.
  1. Before a big meal take a shot of apple cider vinegar to reduce blood glucose. Drinking vinegar before a carb-rich meal can minimize a glucose spike. Before a meal, try mixing a tablespoon of vinegar in a glass of hot or cold water. Adding vinaigrette to your salad also counts.
  2. If you choose to drink alcohol, pick drinks that are low in sugar. Best choices include:  champagne, red wine, vodka soda, spirits on the rocks. Avoid sweetened cocktails and beer.
  3. Start with a salad or a vegetable appetiser. And even better add some vinegar to it. The order we eat food is important. Always begin with a a high fibre dish. This way the carbohydrate rich portions will have a much smaller impact on your glucose levels. This means less inflammation, better mood, fewer cravings and slower ageing.
  4. Move after a meal. Taking a 10- or 20-minute walk after you eat will minimize a glucose spike.
  5. Don’t eat carbs alone. Add fats, proteins or fiber to the carbs you plan to eat to reduce how quickly glucose is absorbed into the body. For instance, adding cheese or nut butter to a slice of bread or a piece of fruit.
